United States privacy notice

Notice at collection

We collect only the information needed to provide and secure the service, support accounts, process a purchase through Paddle, prevent misuse and measure optional aggregate site use. We do not require client names, documents, payment card details or special-category information to calculate a deadline. Do not enter those details into optional fields.

Categories we collect

• Identifiers, including account email address, optional display name and authentication identifiers.
• Professional information that you choose to place in an account or matter.
• Calculation and matter content, including dates, rule selections, notes and any details you enter.
• Commercial information received from Paddle, including transaction, subscription and refund status.
• Internet and device information used for security, error monitoring and, only with consent, aggregate analytics.

Sources and purposes

We receive information directly from you, from your use of the service, from the authentication provider and from Paddle after a transaction. We use it to operate Deadline Engine, authenticate users, calculate and save deadlines, provide paid features, respond to support requests, detect abuse, maintain security and meet legal record-keeping duties. We do not use it for targeted advertising.

Disclosures and choices

We disclose information to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy only to provide the service. Paddle is an independent controller for the transaction information it collects as merchant of record. We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We therefore do not operate a separate Do Not Sell or Share control.

Access, deletion and correction

You can use account data export and account deletion when signed in. You may also email deadlineengine@thesmios.com to request access, correction, deletion or portability. We will verify the request before acting and explain any lawful limit on the request. You may appeal a refusal by replying to the decision email and marking the subject line “Privacy appeal”.

Retention and security

We keep data for the periods in the Privacy Policy and use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect it. No system can guarantee absolute security. Please use the contact route promptly if you believe an account is compromised.
