Worked check with fictitious facts

For an October 30, 2026 hearing, assume personal service, standard periods, reviewed orders and department procedures, and no additional closures.

The 81-day moving-paper service target is August 10, 2026. The 20-day opposition count reaches Saturday, October 10. It rolls forward to Monday, October 12, an open Los Angeles court day. The 11-day reply deadline is October 19.

The sample packet uses these facts. A different hearing date, service method, closure or court order requires a fresh calculation and review.

Individual California motion calculators

Three separate periods under CCP section 437c

Moving papers require at least 81 days of notice. Opposition papers use a separate 20-day branch. Reply papers use an 11-day branch. Each branch excludes the hearing day and counts backward.

For moving papers, CCP section 12c counts service additions backward from the notice date. Mail uses the recipient address category. Electronic service, fax and express or overnight delivery add two court days.

The service target moves to an earlier court day when needed to preserve minimum notice. Opposition and reply dates use the next court day under CCP section 12a. Service days do not extend their hearing-based periods.

Review the court and case context

The calendar covers named Los Angeles Superior Court holidays for 2026 and 2027. Every required date must fall within that coverage. Emergency closures, department procedures and actual orders still require your review.

A summary judgment motion ordinarily requires 60 days after each adverse party’s general appearance. The hearing ordinarily occurs at least 30 days before trial. This workflow explains those conditions. It cannot determine eligibility without those facts.

Continued hearings require a fresh review. Professional preserves completed, independent and court-ordered dates during rescheduling. Already-performed service must stay fixed.

A packet or a maintained schedule

A Calendar Packet contains a static ICS file and a PDF date table with calculation working. Hosted downloads expire 30 days after payment. A static import does not update existing calendar entries.

Professional retains reviewed schedules, previews proposed changes, keeps predecessor history and publishes approved dates through private feeds. Calendar providers control refresh timing.

Deadline Engine provides rule-based calculation software. Your review determines whether the rule, order and supplied facts apply. A paid packet preserves evidence and does not certify a legal deadline.
