How the date is counted
Clear days; the service day is excluded
All calendar days count because both periods exceed five days. A deadline ending on a court closure day moves under CPR 2.8(5).

- Parties may agree an extension of up to 28 days under CPR 15.5 and must notify the court in writing.
- Different periods can apply to service outside the jurisdiction or where the court orders another date.
