- Expressly subject to a contrary order or direction of a Justice or the Registrar. The Registrar has a broad standing power under r 42.15.1 to give directions at any time after filing of the notice of appeal, including without a hearing (r 42.15.2). General enlargement power under r 4.02.
- Rule 42.13.2 prescribes the mandatory order of contents, differing between civil and criminal cases. Rules 42.13.3 to 42.13.7 impose formatting requirements including A4 size, volumes of not more than 500 pages, consecutive pagination, 2.5 cm side margins and numbering of every tenth line. Separately, r 42.10 requires the appellant to file a list of all exhibits tendered before the primary judge and the court below at the time the notice of appeal is filed.
