  • None. No extension power; s.77(1) bars applications outside the periods expressly provided by the Act, and HESC Rule 5(3)(a) cannot override a time limit in another enactment.
  • CURRENCY WARNING. MHA 2025 s.30(1) substitutes 'three months' for 'six months' here. NOT in force as at 25 July 2026 (awaiting commencement regulations). The operative period today remains six months. Only one application may be made in the period: see s.77(2). Note s.66(2A): a community patient recalled to hospital under s.17E does not get a fresh s.66(1)(b) right.
