- Rule 31 contains no express extension power, in deliberate contrast to rules 53, 86 and 119. However the rule also attaches no automatic consequence to expiry: the general right to object under s.73(1) LRA 2002 ("anyone may object to an application to the registrar") subsists until the registrar determines the application, and s.73(5)(b) then bars determination until the objection is disposed of. In practice the registrar may proceed once the period has passed.
