- Discretionary. The court 'may' extend for up to 12 months. Not automatic and not a guaranteed full 12 months. The court may also replace a conditions order with a suspension order or vice versa under art 31(9)(b) and (c).
- After a court extension, art 31(11)(a) resets the review clock to 6 months from the date the court extended or replaced the order. Unlike Medical Act s.41A(9), there is no shortened 3-month branch. The registrant may separately apply to the court under art 31(12) to terminate or vary, and that decision is final.
