- Extendable under rule 3.1(2)(a) even after expiry. Separately, rule 13.3(3)(b) allows a person served with or notified of the application to take part in a hearing where "the court permits", even without an acknowledgment, and rule 9.15 allows any person with sufficient interest to apply to be joined at any stage. Late acknowledgments are routinely accepted.
- Binding is set false, but the practical consequence of missing it is real: under rule 9.13(1)(b) the parties are the applicant and any person named as a respondent "who files an acknowledgment of service", so a named respondent who does not acknowledge in time is not a party as of right. Rule 9.14 makes P and anyone served with or notified of the application form bound by the c
