  • Part 47 Section VIII contains no express extension power, so any extension is under the general power in CPR r.3.1(2)(a), which permits extension "even if an application for extension is made after the time for compliance has expired". Because this is an appeal time limit, extensions are not granted lightly and the court will look for a good explanation for delay. Do not assume an extension.
  • Anchor is the date of the DECISION, not the date it was drawn up or received. Any party to the detailed assessment proceedings may appeal (r.47.21); the appeal lies to a costs judge or a district judge of the High Court (r.47.22).
