- NONE. There is no judicial power to extend. This is a special limitation period preserved as against the Limitations Act, 2002 basic two-year period, so s 4 of that Act does not apply to it.
- Added on verification: this three-month period displaces the two-year basic period for newspaper and broadcast libel and is a frequent malpractice source. By s 7 it applies only to newspapers printed and published in Ontario and to broadcasts from a station in Ontario; libel in other media falls back on the Limitations Act, 2002. The trigger is knowledge, which is why this entry and the s 5(1) six-week notice entry share a trigger but produce different dates. Month counting for a statutory period is governed by Legislation Act, 2006, s 89(6).
