  • Governed by a SEPARATE statute. Limitation of Actions Act s 3(a) expressly excludes 'a claim to which the Real Property Limitations Act applies' from the 2014 Act, so the two-year discovery period and the fifteen-year ultimate period do not apply to land recovery claims. Sections 2 to 9 of the Real Property Limitations Act were repealed by the 2014 Act (2014 c 35 s 27), so the surviving scheme begins at s 10. Section 22 extinguishes title: at the determination of the period, the right and title of the person to the land or rent is extinguished, not merely barred. Crown claims have a longer period - see s 21.
