  • Rule 53.03(1) requires a party intending to call an expert to file a signed report with the pre-trial judge but sets no free-standing date; failure to comply means the report is inadmissible and the expert may not testify except with the trial judge's leave (r 53.03(3)). In expedited actions the expert report timetable is fixed by r 20A(27).
