- The registrar may renew the claim for further periods of not more than 1 year at a time if satisfied reasonable efforts have been made to serve or there is another good reason (r 24(2)); the claim may be renewed whether or not it is in force (r 24(3)); but the court's leave is required to renew for a period any part of which falls on or after the fifth anniversary of original filing (r 24(4)).
- This is one of the rare Queensland provisions that expressly INCLUDES the first day: the period runs 'starting on the day it is filed', displacing the ordinary exclusion in Acts Interpretation Act 1954 (Qld) s 38(1). A renewed claim is taken, for any time limit including a limitation period, to have started on the day it was originally filed (r 24(6)).
