- The Court may extend the period of validity from time to time for not more than 12 months from the date of the order (r 5.12(2)), before or after expiry of the writ (r 5.12(3)), and may do so without notice to the defendant (r 5.12(4)).
- The extension power under r 5.12(2) is expressly available AFTER expiry, unlike the equivalent English rule. Each extension is capped at 12 months from the date of the order, not from expiry.
